From The New York Times

The Holy Grail of Cosmic American Music

by

Holly George-Warren

Gram Journal cover

Around the corner from Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, the Mother Church of Country Music, a bunch of lucky Americanafest goers found ourselves in the presence of the holy grail of Cosmic American Music, which, on September 14, transformed the Hard Rock Café on Broadway into our own little church. A long-forgotten journal filled with handwritten notes, lyrics, drawings, and set lists had once been held in the hands of Gram Parsons. Turning the pages (while wearing white "archivist" gloves) became a near-spiritual experience for Shilah Morrow, Queen Bee of Sin City Social Club, and me a longtime fan and chronicler of Gram's....More

DEVO Dream

was in a book store - I had a DEVO book - long format - many many pages of iron on images - I had received the book for free (dunno how) and the store owner (maybe Mark Mothersbough) wanted to bag it for me to take home. I resisted the bag for a few seconds then accepted it. I wanted to know more about Mark's son's band. He said they were great. Bob Mothersbough's son also had a band, then it sounded like they shared a son and lived in a communal house where everyone hugged like monkeys. Bob was missing his two front teeth. DEVO were going to play a gig that night at CBGB's. I talked to Bob about what a shitty venue it was (sight lines wise).

Meniscus info

I felt some pain in my knee in January. My ortho doctor ordered an MRI ($2000 paid by insurance - what does one do if you don't have insurance?) and found a small tear. He said I'd need surgery and needed to speak to the surgeon in the office. The surgeon said the tear was minor and I could see how it felt over time before going through with surgery. I play squash twice weekly and had some periods of very sharp pain the first few times I played. Lately, the pain is mild if at all and I haven't experience the sharp pain I felt initially. I can't cross my left leg without feeling it, so I have learned to stop.

http://www.howardluksmd.com/sports-medicine/meniscus-tears-why-surgery-isnt-always-necessary/ has some good common sense info. If my tear gets worse, I think this doctor would be a good one to consult.
